March Plein Air Paint-Out on the El Dorado Trail, Camino Heights

Five of us met at the El Dorado Trail in Camino Heights on a Sunday afternoon at the end of March. We had beautiful spring weather with the vibrant greens of new foliage bursting forth all around us. Joggers, cyclists, and walkers passed us on the trail as each of us sought our own way to express the sweeping view before us.

Lauren and Alyssa focused their paintings on a gray pine and the gently receding hills beyond. Lauren worked in pastels and Alyssa in oils. Rebecca created a semi-abstract piece in pastels, focusing on a tightly cropped study of grasses and other vegetation. David also worked in oils, positioning himself under a group of oaks which unfortunately had a considerable amount of poison oak growing on the ground beneath them. David was careful to avoid contact with the noxious weed! Kari explored the trail, taking photos for possible studio work later.

Each month we explore El Dorado County’s hills and canyons. Come and join us as we mine for creative gold!
