PAA Paint Out


Paint Outs are outings in El Dorado County for artists to sketch, paint or photograph. These are open to all artists and photographers.  PAA members and non-members are welcome.

Have a scenic places you would like to visit in El Dorado County? Please let us know (with parking for up to 10 vehicles and restrooms nearby).

Note: Extreme weather always cancels event. Use your own judgment.

Paint Out at 
Marshall Gold Discovery Park, Coloma.
We will join the California Art Club for a Paint Out
310 Back Street, Coloma, CA 95613

This paint/sculpt-out location is adjacent to the American River in the historic town of Coloma where the California gold rush started. The site has historic churches, post office, Chinese store, and other gold rush era buildings; majestic trees, river vistas, and high rolling hills.
The state park charges $10 for parking ($9 for seniors)
Their sign-in table will be next to the Sawmill Parking Lot. Look for the California Art Club sign.
They plan to gather after painting at the outdoor tables behind the Argonaunt Farm Cafe for a no-host lunch. Food may be purchased from the Argonaunt Cafe or bring your own lunch. This will be a time to share our paintings and visit with each other.

Membership with CAC not required.

Plein Air Painting at the Fair on Friday, June 14th

Come to the Fair and capture the fun and excitement of fair time on your canvas!

Check in at the Fine Arts Dept, in the Organ room,

Friday, June 14th from 12 - 2 with blank surface to be stamped by staff. Artwork due back by 6 pm for judging Artwork to be displayed through Fair.

The Plein Air Painting event will take place on Friday, June 14 from Noon to 6 pm.  Check in for the Plein Air event is Friday, June 14 from Noon - 2 pm at the Organ Room. 


Entry forms are due Wednesday May 22 by 4:00 pm to receive free fair admission with your entry. Or you can show up and check in on June 14, but does not include entry to the fair. 


The award for this event is $100 but at least five artists must register for the event for the award to be granted.

Paint Out

Wed, June 19, 9 am - noon

Sherwood Demonstration Garden, Placerville

6699 Campus Drive, Folsom Lake College Parking Lot,

$2 parking fee.

The Sherwood Demonstration Garden is built and run by the UCCE Master Gardeners of El Dorado County. Sixteen themed educational gardens feature sustainably grown plants chosen for our Mediterranean climate ranging from the Shade Garden to the Rock Garden and everything in between! Please stay in the open areas or on the paths.

Notes: Gate opens at 9am.  Garden is closed if forecast of 95 F or higher.


Directions: From Hwy 50 in Placerville, take the Missouri Flat exit (44A) and go north. After 1.8 miles, take a right on Campus Drive. and continue to the top of the hill, parking is $2.
